Nekyia is a descent to the underworld, as in Homer’s Odyssey, Book 11; the opening of Dante’s Inferno and Pound’s Canto 1. The purpose of a descent is, paradoxically, to learn how to rise: one goes down, like Odysseus & Pound, in order to learn from the dead how to return home again.
